SUE
ANDERSON ABIPP (Qualified at Associate
level and Director of the Board of the British Institute of
Professional Photography)
Sue Anderson is a freelance photographer and specialises in
photographing the wild and remote landscapes on Scotland's
west coast Islands, Argyll and the Highlands. She has been
based up here for over 30 years. Sue is married to fellow
photographer Brian Fair (Features North and Highland Wedding
Photography) and they work from their home on the shores of
Loch Creran near Oban in north Argyll.
Sue's work takes her through the Hebrides, Northern Isles
(Orkney, Shetland and Fair Isle), Argyll and the Highlands
capturing evocative sunrises and sunsets and dramatic seascapes
- people at work in the landscape and the texture and colour
of the ever changing scene - and the dramatic punctuation
of weather in the landscape all the year round.
The core of her work is in publishing a range of calendars,
postcards and greetings
cards. Also, mounted panoramic
prints and photographic
prints are available at home and abroad both from this
website and from retail outlets across Scotland.
Sue's election to the Council or Board of Directors of the
BIPP involves her making policy decisions in the organisation.
Scotland's branch of the BIPP provides an all year round programme
of seminars, workshops and visits to relevant businesses.
There are plenty of opportunities for networking, learning,
business development and assessment. These are available to
both members and non members who are welcome to attend meetings
which are usually held in the Central Belt or Grampian. For
membership details contact Sue or see the official BIPP
website.
ISLAND FOCUS
Sue's clients have included AA Publishing, CKD Galbraith,
Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Film Commission,
Hydro Electric Board, Argyllshire Gathering, The National
Trust, various Tourist Boards and Companies in the Publishing
and Advertising industry. See Corporate and Commissioned Work
- click here. Commissioned work is regularly undertaken which
takes Sue all over Scotland. A past published calendar entitled
: Free the Spirit, has been available for Corporate and Bespoke
overprinting.
The Company has built up an extensive colour transparency
Stock Library of colour photographic imagery in various formats
: from panoramic (6cm x 17cm), to 6cm x 6cm square and 35mm.
Much of Sue's work is available in digital form from Scottish
Viewpoint, Scotland's leading digital image library who also
manage the Visit Scotland collection.
Do you travel on the ferries to the islands? You can also
see permanent exhibitions of Sue's work, large framed colour
photographic prints, on a number of Caledonian MacBraynes
ships - including the MV Clansman and the MV Hebrides - the
former sails out to the Inner and Outer Hebridean islands
from Oban, and the latter, based in Skye, sailing up around
the Western Isles.
Sue has exhibited her published products at various Trade
Shows and Exhibitions around the world - from the Glasgow
based International Gift Fair in January to the Celtic Marketplace
Trade Show in Chicago, USA in September.
New to the Company over the past few years is listing in the
Scottish Film Bang Directory and the Scottish Highlands and
Islands Film Commission database of available crew - Sue occasionally
works for film or television production companies as Location
Scout, Assistant to Location Managers or Stills Photographer
on location in Argyll and the Islands. Sue has extensive local
knowledge and useful contacts in the area. Credits include:

the Association of Integrated Media - Highlands and Islands.
The Trade Association was set up for those in the Creative
Content industry in the Highlands and Islands - one of the
main objectives of the organisation is to raise the profile
of and promote collaboration in the creative industries and
their roles in business and community development, education
and training, communications and entertainment in this part
of Scotland. There is a great opportunity for networking and
creating business partnerships in this organisation. Take
a look at the Aim-Hi
