May 2008 desktop calendar
|
Although we have recently enjoyed some fabulous weather up in the Outer Hebrides earlier in April, this months desktop is up to puzzle you. Let me know where it is and the first correct e mail I receive will be sent 6 of my greetings cards, with compliments. This will be done early June.
In the meantime, we wish Jacqui and Donald a happy honeymoon - we recently provided wedding photography for their special day in Benbecula. The Dark Island served them proud for the reception and Skerryvore flew in from the Isle of Tiree for the dance and celebration into the early hours .... love to you both and may you always be happy and enjoy good health and prosperity in your new future together..

Sue will be away during May. Any specific requests or queries can be addressed to her by e mail which will be checked on a once weekly basis, where possible. Sue's mobile will be on to take emergency calls only. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. | Calendars no longer available but a book is on the |
After a very successful 20 years of sales we have stopped publishing the Scottish Islands calendars this year. Therefore there will be no other calendar publications for 2008/09 available from Island Focus and Sue Anderson. We thank you for your compliments and support of sales over the years. It was a roller coaster ride through the islands. Sue will be publishing a book which will collate all those best recipes and favourite haunts from the series of calendars. Once the Stock library project is up and running, Sue will be working on the book. Watch this space for updates.

The latest news from this project is that we have started to upload panoramic content to the new library. At present we have around 50 images uploaded, but we have many more to go. We will not be going live until we can upload a substantial amount of images. And to remind you how we are tackling this big project: we have recently purchased a Hasselblad Flextight X1 scanner to facilitate the work with the 6x17cm panoramic transparencies to the photo stock library. Also upgraded our computer to an Apple Mac G5. It is a very long job uploading our huge transparency photo library to our new website. Yes, a very long job.

In order to speed up the stock library profile project, we have decided to submit some of the panoramic images to Alamy as well. They have accepted my initial submission and some images are now in their library to view on line. Alamy is one of the worlds largest internet image stock libraries in the world.

| Publication of Spectacular Scotland - |
A panoramic sized coffee table extravaganza of a book, Spectacular Scotland is now available at all good bookshops throughout the UK at a RRP of £30. Sue contributed most of the panoramic photography for this epic work and launched this book with the author, James Gracie, at Ottakers in Oban on Thursday 27th April and Ottakars in Inverness on 6th July. Now that Ottakars have been taken over by Waterstones you can buy your copy from any of these stores around the UK.
